Managers that have responsibility for looking after other staff often feel totally unprepared. Our practical and no nonsense course aims to guide operational managers and supervisors through the employment law minefield. It will help them tackle the employment issues that could expose your business to costly employment tribunal claims.

Employment Law for Line Managers is recommended for all line managers or those with supervisory responsibilities. No prior knowledge of employment law is required.

“This course highlighted to me that the managers had learnt best practice and gained a better understanding of employment law. The content was applicable to both experienced and newly appointed managers”.

Training Schemes For Human Resources Graduates

If you're about to graduate with a degree in HR, then you could be interested in finding training schemes for human resources graduates. There are a number of graduate training schemes available in some of the biggest and best companies in the UK. Getting into one of these training programmes could assure your future as a human resources professional. In most cases, companies will be looking for a combination of excellent academic qualifications and the ambition to make something of a training opportunity. This is a great way to start a career in human resources and there are other benefits too.

In training schemes for human resources graduates, you will find that you get training that it would be hard to get elsewhere, and since you're practicing what you learn on the job, it tends to stick. Unlike many people who start their first job, someone on a training scheme will have a mentor who will help them get used to working life in general and the job in particular. You may be able to take additional specialist qualifications and have them paid for by your employer and the contacts you make will stand you in good stead throughout your career in this field.

How a scheme works

Generally training schemes for human resources graduates can be located anywhere in the UK. You may even have the chance to work at different locations within the same company. Training tends to be wide ranging covering all the aspects of human resources as well as general skills to do with working with other people, managing projects, and communicating with others. Training scheme participants will probably get the chance to work with payroll and benefits, recruitment and perhaps even training. All of this will help make them well rounded human resources professionals and will help them to decide which area they want to specialise in.

When taking part in one of these schemes, it's a good idea to make full use of your mentor. This person will be a seasoned human resources professional who will become an invaluable resource and a good lifelong contact. At the same time, it's wise to make the most of any training opportunities on offer, especially if the employer is funding them. Maybe you can beef up your qualifications with a diploma from a qualified HR trainer. Training schemes for human resources graduates contribute to a well trained body of HR professionals. Why don't you join them?

The Ins And Outs Of Personnel Courses

Personnel courses are one way to make sure that your human resources staff get the training that they need. While some employees may join the company with related qualifications and experience, others may need training in order to get qualifications they need. Here are some of the options for personnel courses and what they might cover. Where you start with such courses may depend on your age and the qualifications that you already have.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is the body that oversees professional human resources qualifications in the UK. It advises 16 to 18 year olds who are thinking of a career in human resources to tailor the subjects they study to this area, where possible. For example, those interested in working with budgets and payrolls might consider taking courses in business studies and economics for example. Communications, psychology and English also lay good groundwork for this area, as good communication skills are essential.

For those planning to take personnel courses at university, there are plenty to choose from. Specialist areas include employment law, recruitment and training, while having good IT and administration skills will also help. Getting the right training is an essential part of becoming a successful human resources practitioner and the training can continue even after you have landed your first job.

Graduate Options

If you are a graduate you may be able to join a graduate training scheme, which will also provide a major career boost. This will involve working with a mentor and exploring several roles within a personnel department. Your employer will probably invest in your training by paying for additional personnel courses in areas such as HR practice, employment law, training, diversity and employee relations.

Of course, you don't have to go to university to do personnel courses. There are organisations that offer training in key areas of human resources management. You may even get them to come into your company to provide the training. This is one way to get training courses that are customised to meet the needs of the on-site staff.

So there are many options for those seeking training in personnel or human resources. If you want to find out more about the different areas of human resources management, such as pay and benefits, recruitment, training, diversity and employee relations, then look around for a specialist human resources training provider which offers personnel courses.
