Deminos started in 2007, set up by our own husband-and-wife team of Neil and Louise Atkinson.
Neil used to run a map-design company, but decided it was time to guide people in the right direction in a different way. With Louise previously working as a human resources executive and being a fellow of the CIPD, offering an HR outsourcing service was the only way to go.
Since then, Deminos has grown into a wider team of HR, employment law and health and safety advisors with all types of experience, and we believe this makes us well prepared to manage whatever HR issues come your way.
We now have a 300-strong client base of customers from a wide range of sectors, while still offering that close-knit, personal service that can only come from a family business.
Meet the Team
Neil is our MD, and the man who started it all off. He also knows a thing or two about starting a business.
Way back in 1991 Neil set up his first venture importing and selling ISDN cards for Macs. After selling the company in 1995, he moved to London and was soon caught in the city’s infamous traffic. This inspired him to set up his second business - designing and producing custom business location maps, which he owned and managed until 2007.
It was around this time Neil realised that outsourcing his business’s HR needs was the way forward, due to it being easier and more cost-effective than having an in-house HR department. This led to him and his HR director wife Louise launching a new business, aiming to meet those needs for other people. Deminos was born!
Over ten years on, Deminos (and Neil and Louise’s marriage) is still going strong. Away from work, Neil harbours dreams of being a late bloomer in the world of Formula One by driving very fast cars around racing circuits in his spare time.
Louise is our HR Director, and along with Neil founded Deminos back in 2007.
While Neil was running his previous mapping business, Louise was an HR manager with experience working in the food retail and construction sectors.
Any HR advice in regards to the business came from Louise, and this laid the foundation of what became Deminos. The pair knew that most HR consultants would lack the sensitivity and intimacy to handle a lot of HR situations, so aimed to provide a more personal service that would have the client’s needs at the forefront.
That philosophy has remained in place ever since, with Louise acting in a consultancy capacity overseeing both the HR and Learning and Development services offered by Deminos. Away from the busy world of HR, Louise loves spending time with her family and considers herself something of a wine connoisseur.
Sam is our Director here at Deminos. She has worked with Neil for many years, and was even his very first employee at his previous company.
After graduating from the University of Derby, she later completed a post-graduate diploma in Training and Performance Management at the University of Leicester.
With over 20 years of experience within the field of HR and Training, Sam has worked in a variety of HR management roles across several industries including manufacturing, retail, and business consultancy.
Away from work Sam likes to spend time with her family, and as she’s outnumbered by her boys she has had to develop a love of hanging around freezing cold football pitches most weekends!
Elaine is our Operations Director, developing long-term partnerships with our clients so we can help them as much as possible. She advises business owners and managers on complex matters, such as employee relations, organisational design, commercial risk management, and strategy development.
Elaine is highly experienced in HR, having worked in the retail, construction, service provision and hospitality sectors. In a former life she worked as a senior operations manager at The Co-operative Group, so is particularly at home at developing HR solutions from a client’s perspective.
This experience is invaluable when dealing with potentially sensitive scenarios, such as TUPE, redundancy and restructuring.
Outside of work, Elaine embraces the great outdoors through family outings, gardening, and walking.
